About the Role

Blackstone Law is looking for a forward-thinking, hands-on Chief Technology Officer to lead the next phase of our technology strategy.

We have already made significant investments in technology, AI, automation, and data. We’re looking for an experienced technology leader who will take us to the next level.

This is not a traditional IT leadership role. We need someone who understands how AI, data, software, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and automation work together—and can translate those capabilities into measurable improvements in how a modern law firm operates.

The CTO will partner directly with executive leadership while providing technical direction and accountability to our internal and external technology resources.

While we are primarily seeking a full-time CTO, we are open to considering the right candidate on a fractional basis initially.

What You’ll Do

Own and execute the firm’s technology, AI, data, and infrastructure strategy.

Assess our current technology environment, architecture, systems, integrations, vendors, and development initiatives and identify gaps, risks, and opportunities.

Lead the firm’s AI strategy, including the evaluation, development, implementation, and governance of AI-powered tools and workflows.

Provide technical leadership and accountability for developers, IT resources, consultants, and technology vendors.

Establish clear expectations around project scope, milestones, deliverables, timelines, and performance.

Identify opportunities to automate workflows, improve productivity, strengthen knowledge management, and better leverage firm data.

Ensure our technology environment is secure, scalable, reliable, and positioned to support continued growth.

Oversee cybersecurity, data governance, privacy, business continuity, disaster recovery, and technology risk.

Evaluate emerging technologies based on practical business value—not technology for technology’s sake.

Partner with the Leadership, attorneys, and operational leaders to translate business needs into practical technology solutions.

Own technology budgeting and help leadership make informed investment decisions.

What We’re Looking For

10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including CTO, CIO, VP/Head of Technology, or comparable leadership experience.

Proven experience building and executing technology strategies within a growing organization.

Strong technical knowledge across AI, data architecture, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems integration, and software development.

Hands-on experience evaluating, implementing, and scaling AI and automation solutions.

Experience leading developers, engineers, IT professionals, vendors, and outsourced technology resources.

Ability to quickly assess an existing technology environment and determine what should be scaled, improved, replaced, or rebuilt.

Strong execution and project-management discipline with a track record of turning strategy into measurable results.

Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical executives and business leaders.

Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization.

Law firm or legal technology experience preferred; professional services experience is also highly valued.
