Child Development Specialist

Job Summary

Verbal Tree Speech Pathology & Development, Inc. is seeking a passionate and dedicated Child Development Specialistto join our Early Start team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of infants, toddlers, and their families.

This position provides child development services for children ages 0–3 in the San Fernando Valley, primarily in the child’s home and natural environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, partnering with families, collecting meaningful data, and supporting developmental growth through play-based, family-centered intervention.

Duties

• Provide direct Child Development therapy services to infants and toddlers ages 0–3 in home and community-based settings.
• Implement developmentally appropriate, play-based strategies to support communication, social-emotional, adaptive, cognitive, and early learning skills.
• Collect and document detailed data during sessions to monitor progress and guide intervention.
• Support and coach parents and caregivers in strategies they can incorporate into everyday routines.
• Maintain accurate session notes, developmental documentation, and progress reports in accordance with HIPAA and program requirements.
• Collaborate with SLPs, OTs, PTs, developmental specialists, and other members of the child’s multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in IFSP-related communication and collaborate with families and service coordinators as appropriate.
• Maintain professional and timely communication with families and the clinical team.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or a related field.
• Experience working with infants, toddlers, and/or children with developmental delays or disabilities.
• Experience with Early Start, regional center services, or early intervention is preferred.
• Proven ability to collect detailed and accurate data during therapy sessions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children and families.
• Ability to provide family-centered support and demonstrate developmental strategies through play and everyday routines.
• Reliable transportation and ability to provide services in homes and community settings throughout the San Fernando Valley.
• Compassionate, dependable, and comfortable working independently while receiving clinical support.

Pay: $27.00 - $37.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6.0 – 30.0 per week
