What they need

A faith-based child welfare organization serving Michigan's BSC3 region is seeking an experienced child welfare professional to join its leadership team. This position provides programmatic leadership and oversight within foster care, adoption, and licensing services and plays an important role in supporting supervisors, strengthening program quality, and ensuring services are delivered with excellence and compassion.

The ideal candidate will bring strong child welfare knowledge, sound professional judgment, and the ability to lead others with both confidence and humility. This is a role for someone who can navigate complex situations, provide steady leadership, hold appropriate accountability, and remain calm and thoughtful when challenges arise.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to supervisory-level child welfare staff
  • Oversee program quality, service delivery, staff development, and performance
  • Monitor contractual requirements, key performance indicators, and program deliverables
  • Support compliance with Michigan child welfare policies, licensing requirements, and agency standards
  • Coordinate and participate in internal and external audits, case reviews, corrective action plans, and continuous quality improvement
  • Maintain and strengthen policies, procedures, documentation, and operational processes
  • Facilitate leadership meetings, staff development, and training
  • Collaborate with executive leadership regarding program operations, budgeting, staffing, and organizational priorities
  • Represent the organization professionally with community partners, contractors, and other child welfare stakeholders

Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • Master's degree in social work or a related human services field with at least three years of experience in child welfare, foster care, or a related setting; or
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field with at least four years of relevant child welfare experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Michigan child welfare systems, policies, procedures, and contractual requirements
  • Experience supervising, coaching, or developing professional staff
  • Experience with compliance, quality assurance, audits, and/or program performance
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity
  • Valid driver's license, appropriate automobile insurance, safe driving record, and reliable transportation

Faith & Leadership

Because this is a Christian ministry, a mature and active Christian faith is an essential component of this leadership position. The successful candidate should demonstrate spiritual maturity, humility, integrity, discernment, and a teachable spirit and be comfortable allowing biblical principles to inform their leadership and relationships with others.

We are seeking someone who can lead with both grace and accountability - someone who is emotionally steady, able to have difficult conversations when necessary, receptive to feedback, and committed to fostering unity among staff while maintaining high professional and ethical standards.

About the Opportunity

This is an opportunity to provide meaningful leadership within a mission-driven organization serving children and families throughout Michigan's BSC3 region. The position works closely with organizational leadership and offers the opportunity to influence program quality, staff development, compliance, and the continued growth of child welfare services.

**To protect the confidentiality of an ongoing organizational transition, additional information about the organization and position will be shared with qualified candidates during the interview process.**
