Are you an experienced childcare teacher looking for a part-time position with consistent afternoon hours? We may have the perfect spot for you!

From The Roots Early Learning Center is looking for a dependable, experienced individual to join our team and help close our center each evening.

Childcare experience AND a strong understanding of classroom ratios are a must for this position. Because you’ll be helping manage the end-of-day transition as children leave and classrooms combine, you need to be confident in knowing ratios, communicating with other teachers, and keeping the evening running smoothly.

Schedule

This is a part-time, Monday–Friday position.

We can be flexible with your start time anywhere between 12:15 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., depending on how many hours you're looking for. You must be available to work until approximately 5:45–6:00 p.m. each day.

Minimum availability: Monday–Friday, 3:00–6:00 p.m.

There may also be an opportunity for this position to grow into full-time employment if desired.

What You'll Be Doing

As one of our closing teachers, you'll spend your afternoon caring for and interacting with children while helping our team finish the day strong. Responsibilities include:

• Engaging and interacting with children during classroom and playground activities
• Assisting in classrooms as needed throughout the afternoon
• Maintaining appropriate staff-to-child ratios as children depart for the day
• Helping combine classrooms safely and appropriately
• Building positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
• Responding to children's individual needs with patience, care, and respect
• Helping maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment
• Communicating with families during pick-up
• Working independently while also being a dependable part of the team
• Helping ensure the center is properly wrapped up and ready for the next day

What We're Looking For

• Previous childcare experience is required
• Must understand and be comfortable calculating and maintaining childcare ratios
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must meet Wisconsin educational requirements for a childcare teacher
• Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds
• First Aid, CPR, AED, SIDS, and SBS certifications—or willingness to obtain required certifications
• Associate degree preferred, but not required
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Dependable attendance and consistent availability
• Ability to multitask and confidently move between classrooms and age groups
• Someone who genuinely enjoys working with children and being part of a team
