Overview

Small People Child Development Center is seeking a dependable, experienced Childcare Program Floater to provide direct classroom coverage and support across our program.

This is a hands-on, engaging position working directly with infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age children based on enrollment and staffing needs, including mixed-age groups when permitted by licensing ratios.

  • Work confidently with infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age children
  • Support implementation of established curriculum and activities
  • Maintain clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom environments
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, feeding, and other routine care needs
  • Maintain required classroom documentation
  • Communicate professionally with families, staff, and leadership
  • Follow licensing requirements, center policies, safety procedures, and ratios
  • Participate in required training, coaching, and professional development
  • Provide additional classroom coverage when hours are available

Requirements

  • 1+ year of professional childcare experience preferred

  • Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
  • Comfortable opening and closing the center when assigned
  • Professional communication and sound judgment
  • Must be receptive to feedback and able to implement coaching
  • Must meet applicable Texas childcare background and training requirements
  • Must be available for the regular schedule listed below

Regular Schedule

Monday: 5:00 AM–11:00 AM
Friday: 3:00 PM–9:00 PM
3 Saturdays per month: 10:15 AM–9:00 PM, depending on attendance and the time the last child is picked up

Additional weekday hours may be offered as needed for call-outs, enrollment changes, staff coverage, special events, or other program needs.

The center operates Monday–Saturday, 5:00 AM–9:00 PM, so some additional flexibility within operating hours is preferred.

Pay & Growth

Starting pay is $9.00–$10.00 per hour based on experience.

Performance and compensation will be reviewed at approximately 30-60 days and again at 6 months, with opportunities for an increase based on demonstrated performance, including dependability, attendance, active supervision, classroom engagement, initiative, training completion, organization, judgment, and responsiveness to coaching.

This position is ideal for someone who wants consistent part-time hours with opportunities to pick up additional shifts. We are looking for someone who is dependable, actively engages with children, and can confidently step into different classrooms when needed.
