The home will provide individualised care and support to one child or young person aged
7–16 with emotional and behavioural needs. Our aim is to provide a safe, stable and nurturing environment where the child’s welfare, individual needs and personal development remain at the centre of everyday care.
This is an opportunity to join a developing team and contribute to a home where consistency, positive relationships, safeguarding and high standards of care are fundamental.
We welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience who demonstrate the right values, a commitment to learning and the ability to work professionally as part of a team.

As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will contribute to the delivery of safe, consistent and child-centred care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing individualised care that respects the child’s identity, wishes, feelings and needs.
- Building appropriate, trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Supporting emotional wellbeing, confidence, independence and positive development.
- Encouraging engagement with education, recreational activities, appointments and community opportunities.
- Following individual care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
- Responding calmly and appropriately to distress, emotional difficulties and challenging behaviour.
- Using positive, respectful and appropriate de-escalation approaches.
- Maintaining accurate daily records, incident reports and shift handovers.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues, managers and relevant professionals.
- Recognising safeguarding concerns and following the appropriate reporting and escalation procedures.
- Promoting children’s rights, dignity, privacy, inclusion and protection from harm.
- Contributing to a safe, welcoming and homely environment.
- Participating in supervision, training and team discussions to improve practice and outcomes.

- Teamwork: A positive approach to working with colleagues and following management guidance.
- Personal qualities: Patience, reliability, compassion, emotional resilience and professionalism.
- Behaviour support: The ability to remain calm and respond appropriately when a child is distressed or displaying challenging behaviour.
- Availability: Willingness to work a four-days-on, four-days-off pattern, including weekends and bank holidays where required.
- Commitment: A genuine desire to support children’s welfare, development and positive outcomes.
Qualifications and Additional Experience
A relevant Level 1 qualification is desirable, and Level 2 or higher is an advantage. Previous experience in residential childcare, emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), trauma-informed practice, attachment difficulties or positive behaviour support is also desirable.
A full, valid UK driving licence is desirable but is not essential.
Important: All appointments will be subject to the applicable qualification, competence, suitability and staffing requirements for the registered children’s home. Candidates must meet any mandatory requirements relevant to the position.
