Children's Senior Support Worker
Senior Support Worker – Children's Residential Home
Location: Alvechurch, B48
Salary: £33,000 – £36,000 per year
Hours: 40 hours per week
Job Type: Full-time
Do you love working with children and want to make a real difference?
We're looking for a Senior Support Worker to join our team at our children's residential home in Alvechurch, B48.
This is a hands-on role where you'll be part of the children's everyday lives — supporting them, encouraging them, having fun with them and helping them build confidence and independence.
We're looking for someone who has experience working with children or young people and is ready to step into a senior role, or someone who is already a Senior Support Worker and is looking for a new challenge.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting the children with their day-to-day lives and routines.
- Building strong, positive relationships with the children.
- Taking part in activities, days out and making memories together.
- Supporting children with their emotional wellbeing and development.
- Helping manage challenging behaviour in a calm and positive way.
- Being a good role model and someone the children can trust.
- Supporting the wider team and helping newer staff develop.
- Helping to keep the home a safe, happy and positive place to live.
- Completing care plans, records and other paperwork when needed.
- Taking the lead in the home when senior management aren't around.
What we're looking for
Most importantly, you need to genuinely care about children and want to make a difference.
You'll ideally have experience working with children or young people, particularly in a residential setting, and be confident dealing with challenging situations.
You'll need to be:
- Caring, patient and approachable.
- Reliable and able to work as part of a team.
- Confident and calm when things get difficult.
- A good communicator.
- Someone who can build positive relationships with children.
- Happy to get involved and be hands-on.
- Keen to learn and develop.
A Level 3 qualification in Children's Care is desirable, but experience and the right attitude are just as important.
What you'll get
- £33,000 – £36,000 per year
- 40 hours per week
- A supportive team around you.
- Training and development.
- Opportunities to progress.
- A rewarding job where no two days are the same.
- The chance to make a genuine difference to children's lives.

If you're looking for a role where you can really get to know the children you work with and be part of helping them grow and thrive, we'd love to hear from you.
