About the role

We’re looking for a Children’s Support Worker to join our team in a Good Ofsted-rated children’s home in Littleover, Derby.

This is a rewarding role where you’ll get to know the young people you support, help them through day-to-day life and be someone they can rely on.

We’re looking for someone who is caring, patient and able to build good relationships with children and young people. You don’t need to have all the answers — having the right attitude and wanting to make a difference is what matters.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the young people with their day-to-day routines
  • Building positive and trusting relationships
  • Helping with school, activities, appointments and trips out
  • Encouraging independence and life skills
  • Supporting young people with their emotions and behaviour
  • Making sure the home is a safe, comfortable and positive place to live
  • Keeping records and completing basic paperwork
  • Working closely with the rest of the team
  • Taking part in 1–2 sleep-ins per week

The shift pattern

You’ll work a 2 days on / 4 days off rota, giving you plenty of time off between shifts.

Sleep-ins will be part of the rota, with 1–2 sleep-ins per week.

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally have some experience working with children or young people, whether that’s in residential care, education, support work or another setting.

Most importantly, you’ll be:

  • Caring and approachable
  • Patient and understanding
  • Reliable and responsible
  • Comfortable dealing with challenging situations
  • A good team player
  • Someone who genuinely wants to help young people do well

Full training and support will be provided.

What you’ll get

  • £28,000 – £31,000 salary
  • 2 days on / 4 days off shift pattern
  • 1–2 sleep-ins per week
  • Good Ofsted-rated home
  • Supportive management and team
  • Training and development
  • Opportunities to progress
  • A job where you can genuinely make a difference

If you’re looking for a role where no two days are the same and you want to do something that actually matters, we’d love to hear from you.

Pay: £28,000.00-£31,000.00 per year
