Cisco Network Technician

3i People, Inc. is seeking a Network Technician for a government client in Lincoln, NE. This is an onsite contract opportunity expected to run 13 months. The role focuses on installing and supporting edge network infrastructure while partnering with network engineers on troubleshooting, maintenance, and project coordination across the enterprise.

What you'll do

• Install edge networking devices and supporting hardware across the organization.

• Configure and support enterprise network equipment, including firewalls, switches, routers, access points, and wireless controllers.

• Assist network engineers with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of edge network infrastructure.

• Support installation, operation, troubleshooting, and repair activities at an intermediate technical level.

• Coordinate multiple network projects across several agencies, including installs and decommissions.

• Evaluate network systems for needed patches, upgrades, and future technical requirements.

• Develop, maintain, and update procedures, processes, and technical documentation.

• Communicate effectively with vendors, stakeholders, clients, and internal IT staff.

• Apply disaster recovery planning concepts as part of network support activities.

• Work collaboratively with the network engineering team and provide responsive customer service.

What you bring

• Intermediate knowledge of information technology theory, principles, and practices.

• Working knowledge of enterprise network devices.

• Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and local and wide area network systems.

• Knowledge of client/server network protocols and Internet/Intranet applications.

• Knowledge of data network troubleshooting and common troubleshooting tools.

• Ability to write clear and concise system and process documentation.

• Ability to read, understand, and apply information from technical manuals.

• Ability to coordinate multiple projects across an enterprise network.

• Ability to communicate with vendors and other stakeholders.

• Valid driver's license.

Nice to have

• Experience with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls.

• Experience with Cisco Catalyst 3650 and 9000 series switches.

• Experience with Cisco 1111 and 9000 series routers.

• Experience with Cisco access points and wireless controllers.

• Network certifications such as CCNA or Network+.

• Wireless networking experience.
