What they need

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Civic Centre Operations Team Leader to join our Customer and Communications Department.

As our new Civic Centre Operations Team Leader, you will provide hands-on operational support and customer service while leading the day-to-day activities of the Civic Centre Operations Team. You will oversee venue bookings, events and room set-ups, ensuring our facilities and services are delivered safely, professionally, efficiently and with a strong customer focus.

Reporting to the Civic and Customer Operations Lead, you will coordinate team workloads and rosters, provide guidance and support to team members, and act as the first point of escalation for event and operational issues. You will role model great customer service, work in collaboration with Customer Operations colleagues and support service improvements. You will also work closely with Council staff, Mayor and Councillors, venue hirers, contractors, community groups and external guests to ensure the Civic Centre operates effectively.

This is a full-time, permanent role based at Knox Civic Centre. We support flexible working arrangements where operational requirements allow; however, please note that this role is primarily office-based.

This is a Band 5 classified role. Remuneration will start from $83,593.07 (pro-rata for part time) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.

What you will bring to this role

The key selection criteria for this role are:

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise a small operational team, provide clear direction and guidance, allocate tasks, manage workloads, coach and develop employees and promote consistent service standards.
  • Demonstrated capability to administer internal and external venue bookings, respond to booking enquiries, proactively advising hirers, coordinate room and event set-ups, maintain accurate booking information, along with operating and troubleshooting audio-visual equipment.
  • Ability to assess staffing and resource requirements by reviewing upcoming bookings, functions and events; communicate resourcing needs, adjust team deployment to maintain adequate operational coverage, and work in collaboration with Customer Operations colleagues.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide professional, responsive and inclusive service to hirers, councillors, employees, contractors, visitors and other facility users.

How to apply

Please submit your application, including your resume and cover letter addressing the selection criteria online via the ‘Apply’ button by 12:00pm on Tuesday 13 October 2026.
