Civil and Structural Engineer

Conceptualization & Planning

• Convert identified land/property sites into structured project concepts scope, technical feasibility, indicative budgets and timelines.
• Work with New Ventures, legal and finance to translate site-level opportunities into executable project briefs.
• Lead FEED scoping and select and manage design consultants and engineering partners.

Approvals, Design & Procurement

• Drive regulatory and approvals processes (municipal planning, environmental, zoning, utilities and other SA statutory requirements) with Alfecos legal/regulatory team.
• Own technical design development through to construction-ready documentation.
• Lead procurement of contractors and key equipment tendering, contractor selection and contract structuring.

Construction Execution

• Take end-to-end ownership of delivery across multiple sites: scheduling, site management, quality, HSE and cost control.
• Manage EPC/main contractors and subcontractors directly against program and budget.
• Identify and resolve execution risks (site, supply chain, contractor performance, regulatory delay) before they hit timelines.
• Own project budgets and cost reporting, escalating variances early with clear mitigation plans.

Commissioning & Handover

• Lead commissioning and testing through to full operational handover.
• Ensure as-built documentation, warranties and compliance certifications are complete and closed out.
• Establish a clean handover process to the operating business or asset owner.

Team Building & Structure

• Build the execution team required to run concurrent projects — site engineers, project managers, QS/cost control, HSE — recruiting and structuring it from the ground up in South Africa.
• Establish standard project management processes, reporting cadence and controls across the portfolio as it scales.
• Mentor the team to build in-country capability and reduce reliance on external consultants over time.
