Civil Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Civil Engineering Technician with advanced expertise in Autodesk Civil 3D. In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models of roads, drainage systems, sewers and utilities, as well as developing custom utility parts and modelling underground infrastructure. You will work closely with our engineering team to transform conceptual designs into accurate, construction-ready digital models and plans.

Key responsibilities

• Civil 3D Modelling: Build complex, accurate 3D models for highways, corridors, grading, and surfaces
• Drainage & Sewer Design: ModelModel gravity and pressure pipe networks, ensuring proper connectivity, slopes, and invert elevations
• Utility Part Creation: Author, customize, and maintain custom parametric parts for utilities using the Civil 3D Part Builder or Infrastructure Parts Editor
• Utility Modelling: Model complex underground and above-ground utility networks, identifying and resolving spatial conflicts or clashes
• Plan Production: Generate detailed construction drawings, plan and profile sheets, cross-sections, and structural details from the 3D models
• Data Management: Manage surfaces, alignments, pipe networks, and data shortcuts to maintain drawing efficiency and accuracy
• Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, civil engineers, and survey crews to integrate design changes and field data

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Expertise: Minimum of 5 years of intensive experience using Autodesk Civil 3D in a professional civil engineering environment
• Core Specialties: Proven experience with Civil 3D pipe networks, pressure networks, corridor modelling, and custom part catalogue creation
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of civil engineering concepts related to roadway geometry, stormwater management, and utility infrastructure
• Clash Detection: Familiarity with identifying and troubleshooting utility conflicts within a 3D environment (experience with Autodesk Navisworks is a plus)
• Education: Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Attention to Detail: Ability to produce highly accurate, clean, and organized drawing files following company and client CAD standards
