Job Summary

The Civil Draughtsman is responsible for preparing, developing, modifying, and maintaining accurate civil engineering drawings in accordance with project specifications, approved designs, engineering standards, and client requirements. The position supports the project and engineering teams by producing detailed drawings for construction, coordination, approvals, and as-built documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings based on approved designs, specifications, site requirements, and engineer's instructions.
• Develop plans, elevations, sections, details, layouts, and construction drawings for civil works.
• Prepare drawings for roads, drainage, stormwater networks, utility networks, concrete works, structures, paving, kerbs, foundations, and other civil works as required.
• Prepare and revise Shop Drawings, IFC drawings, As-Built Drawings, and coordination drawings.
• Review architectural, structural, MEP, landscape, and other relevant drawings to identify potential clashes and coordination requirements.
• Incorporate comments and revisions received from consultants, clients, engineers, and authorities.
• Ensure all drawings comply with approved specifications, project standards, applicable codes, and authority requirements.
• Prepare drawings based on site measurements, survey information, red-line markups, and engineer's instructions.
• Coordinate with Civil Engineers, Project Managers, Surveyors, Site Supervisors, and other technical staff to ensure accurate drawings.
• Update drawings according to approved variations, site changes, design modifications, and technical instructions.
• Maintain proper revision control and drawing registers for all project drawings.
• Prepare drawing submissions and ensure drawings are properly formatted and issued for approval.
• Assist engineers in preparing quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings when required.
• Prepare detailed drawings for construction activities and provide necessary information to site teams.
• Verify dimensions, levels, coordinates, details, and other technical information before issuing drawings.
• Maintain organized electronic and hard-copy records of drawings and related documents.
• Assist in preparing final As-Built Drawings based on actual site conditions and approved changes.
• Coordinate with the site team to obtain accurate information for as-built documentation.
• Ensure confidentiality and proper control of project drawings and technical information.
• Perform other drafting and technical duties assigned by the Project Manager or Civil Engineer.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Drafting, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in civil construction and contracting projects.
• Previous experience in the UAE construction industry is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction drawings and drafting standards.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and preferably familiar with Civil 3D or other relevant drafting software.
• Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, architectural, MEP, and infrastructure drawings.
• Good understanding of levels, dimensions, coordinates, sections, details, and construction terminology.
• Experience preparing shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings.
• Knowledge of UAE construction practices, standards, and authority requirements is an advantage.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
