We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our growing team in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This position will play a key role in supporting site development, engineering design, project coordination, and construction execution across a variety of development projects.

Position Summary

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for providing civil engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, from initial planning and design through construction completion. This role will collaborate closely with project managers, superintendents, architects, consultants, contractors, and local agencies to ensure projects are efficiently designed, properly permitted, and successfully delivered.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with strong technical skills, knowledge of land development principles, and the ability to balance engineering requirements with practical construction solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review civil engineering plans, drawings, and specifications for residential and commercial development projects
• Perform site development design including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, and erosion control
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, and governmental agencies throughout project development
• Assist with permitting processes and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
• Review construction documents and provide engineering guidance during project execution
• Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions, construction progress, and potential design challenges
• Identify opportunities for design improvements, cost efficiencies, and constructability solutions
• Support project schedules and coordinate engineering deliverables to meet deadlines
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and project documentation
• Assist project teams with resolving field conditions and engineering-related issues

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or progress toward licensure
• Experience with land development, site design, or construction-related engineering preferred
• Strong knowledge of grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater design principles
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar engineering design software
• Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting residential, commercial, or mixed-use development projects
• Familiarity with Chattanooga-area permitting requirements and municipal processes
• Construction field experience or experience working directly with contractors
• Understanding of project budgets, schedules, and construction coordination
