Civil Engineer

WHKS has a great opportunity available for a professional engineer with transportation design experience in the Iowa market. The candidate will use their knowledge and expertise in the design and management of municipal, transportation, and other infrastructure type projects. Work will include municipal utility and roadway design, site design, quantity estimates, and other engineering support functions.

Responsibilities include:

• Municipal utility, drainage, roadway, site design, and other engineering support functions.
• Design and prepare roadway construction documents, including typical/cross sections, erosion and sediment control plans, maintenance of traffic plans, stormwater management, drainage design, signing and pavement marking plans, and right-of-way plans.
• Perform other design-related tasks, such as quantity calculations, geometric calculations, roadway layout, grading plans, utility layouts, and subdivision layout.
• Develop 2D and 3D models using Civil 3D and/or Bentley CONNECT OpenRoads Designer.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• MN E. license or ability to obtain within 6 months
• 5 or more years of experience in municipal or transportation design
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and confidently with clients, contractors, and peers.
• Excellent computer skills
• Experience with Civil 3D, Bentley CONNECT OpenRoads Designer, and Microsoft Office products is desirable.
