We’re now looking for an Intermediate to Senior Civil Engineer to join our Christchurch team. You'll be designing and documenting civil projects in Civil 3D and growing your skills, responsibility, and client experience as you go.

The role:

As an experienced Civil Engineer at Babbage, you’ll be involved in civil engineering projects from concept through to construction. You’ll produce high-quality design and documentation, work closely with our multidisciplinary teams, and take on more project and client responsibility as your experience grows. You’ll have the support of experienced engineers and mentors around you, along with the opportunity to develop your technical capability and progress toward CPEng.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking detailed civil design across land development and infrastructure projects, including earthworks, roading, and three waters
• Preparing high-quality drawings, models, and documentation using Civil 3D
• Carrying out design calculations and checking work for accuracy, compliance, and quality
• Coordinating with structural, geotechnical, and environmental teams to meet project timeframes and budgets
• Liaising with clients, contractors, and councils as part of project delivery
• Supporting consent applications, construction observation, and site visits
• Assisting with proposals and fee estimates as required
• Supporting and guiding graduate and junior engineers

About you:

You’re a capable, motivated engineer with solid design experience and a practical approach. You enjoy problem-solving, take pride in producing quality work, and are keen to keep building your technical and professional skills.

You’ll bring:

• A degree in Civil Engineering
• 5+ years’ post-graduate experience in civil design and documentation within land development
• Proficiency in Civil 3D (essential)
• Working knowledge of relevant NZ civil design standards and local council requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A collaborative, reliable, and flexible approach to work
• Working towards CPEng, or a clear interest in doing so
• A commitment to professional growth and contributing positively to team culture
