Civil Engineer Operations Manager

Seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to lead our engineering operations team. This role bridges the gap between technical design and business execution. You will oversee project lifecycles from conception to closeout, ensuring that all civil engineering work (site development, infrastructure, and utilities) is completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest standard of technical quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Strategy: Develop and implement operational policies to improve workflow efficiency, resource allocation, and project profitability across the engineering department.

Project Oversight: Manage the full lifecycle of civil engineering projects, including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of design plans.

Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of project managers, staff engineers, and CAD technicians. Foster a culture of safety, professional development, and technical excellence.

Technical Review: Serve as the Engineer of Record on key projects; stamp/seal plans and perform complex technical reviews of grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater management designs.

Client & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the senior point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies during the construction administration phase.

Financial Management: Monitor project financials, manage change orders, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising integrity or safety.

Compliance: Ensure all operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, environmental standards, and company safety protocols.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor s Degree in Civil Engineering (Master s preferred).

Certification: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Experience: 10+ years of civil engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a management/leadership role overseeing multi-disciplinary teams.

Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, and project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6).

Soft Skills: Strong financial acumen, conflict resolution, and decision-making capabilities under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk construction sites, traverse uneven terrain, and utilize required safety equipment (PPE).

PE License: Active and in good standing.

Leadership: 5+ years managing engineering teams.

Technical: Mastery of site development and infrastructure design.

Financial: Proven track record of managing project P&L.

Communication: Ability to translate complex engineering data to clients and non-technical stakeholders.
