This is an opportunity to build your expertise alongside some of New Zealand's leading pavement specialists while working on a diverse range of projects spanning highways, airports, urban transport corridors and major infrastructure programmes.
You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from investigations and design through to construction support and quality assurance, developing practical pavement solutions that balance performance, constructability and long-term value.
Working within a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, you'll have the opportunity to grow your technical capability, strengthen client relationships and contribute to projects that improve how people and goods move across New Zealand.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Deliver pavement engineering designs, assessments and construction support across a diverse portfolio of transportation projects.
- Undertake pavement investigations, interpret testing data and develop practical engineering solutions for complex infrastructure challenges.
- Apply New Zealand and Austroads pavement design standards to develop cost-effective and technically robust outcomes.
- Support project delivery through construction by responding to technical queries and helping resolve site challenges.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and clients to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
- Contribute to project planning, delivery and commercial success across a range of transport infrastructure projects.
- Build trusted relationships with clients and project stakeholders through proactive communication and technical excellence.
- Share knowledge and support the development of graduate and junior engineers.
- Champion innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement across project delivery.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for a Civil Engineer who combines strong technical foundations with a genuine passion for transport infrastructure and a desire to keep developing their career.
To be considered for this role you will ideally have:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- 2+ years' experience delivering pavement design, construction monitoring and/or MSQA services within New Zealand or Australia.
- Experience supporting pavement design packages or delivering MSQA and CPS services on transportation projects.
- Strong understanding of NZTA/Waka Kotahi and/or local authority pavement design and construction standards.
- Experience undertaking pavement investigations and interpreting materials testing results.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
- A proactive, collaborative approach with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- Current New Zealand Driver Licence.
The following, though not essential, would be highly advantageous:
- Experience using CIRCLY 7.0 or similar pavement design software.
- Experience in pavement rehabilitation, asset management or pavement assessment.
- Exposure to project forecasting, commercial management and client engagement.
- Experience working on multidisciplinary transportation infrastructure projects.
Why This Role
This is more than a pavement engineering role.
It's an opportunity to build your career on projects that shape how New Zealand moves.
You'll work alongside experienced technical leaders, gain exposure to major transport programmes and develop expertise across a broad range of pavement engineering disciplines.
The projects are diverse. The challenges are real. The learning opportunities are significant.
With AECOM's transportation network spanning New Zealand, Australia and the wider world, you'll have access to expertise, opportunities and career pathways that extend well beyond a single project or market.
This is your opportunity to build something that lasts.
At AECOM, you'll be part of a team delivering infrastructure that improves connectivity, strengthens communities and creates a better future.
