Civil Engineer (Project-Based)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Civil Engineer to support the planning, design, construction, and commissioning of utility-scale renewable energy projects, including solar PV, wind, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facilities. Reporting to the Senior Civil Engineer, the successful candidate will provide technical engineering support for civil and structural works, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and contractors, and help ensure that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Company standards and applicable regulations. This role requires regular site visits and close collaboration with project development, engineering, construction, HSE, and quality teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Design and Technical Support

• Support the preparation and review of civil and structural designs for renewable energy projects, including site grading, roads, drainage systems, foundations, retaining structures, fencing, and site infrastructure.

• Review engineering drawings, calculations, technical specifications, and construction documents for compliance with project requirements and engineering standards.

• Assist in evaluating geotechnical reports and incorporating findings into foundation and site development designs.

• Coordinate with external consultants, design engineers, and the Owner's Engineer during design development and technical reviews.

Construction Engineering Support

• Provide engineering support during construction by reviewing Requests for Information (RFIs), shop drawings, method statements, and technical submittals.

• Conduct regular site inspections to verify that civil works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and construction schedules.

• Assist in resolving field engineering issues and recommend practical technical solutions in coordination with the Senior Civil Engineer.

• Monitor contractor compliance with project specifications, approved methodologies, and applicable engineering standards.

Project Coordination

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, mechanical, environmental, HSE, procurement, and construction personnel, to support efficient project execution.

• Assist in preparing technical documentation required for permitting, design reviews, procurement, and project approvals.

• Participate in engineering coordination meetings and provide updates on civil engineering activities.

• Support procurement by reviewing technical specifications and evaluating contractor and supplier submittals for civil works.

Quality, Safety, and Compliance

• Ensure civil engineering activities comply with applicable Philippine regulations, project specifications, and recognized engineering codes and standards.

• Support Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) activities, including inspections, testing, and punch listing.

• Coordinate with HSE personnel to promote safe construction practices during civil works.

• Participate in constructability reviews, technical risk assessments, and value engineering initiatives.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain organized engineering records, drawings, inspection reports, material approvals, and as-built documentation.

• Prepare periodic engineering progress reports and technical updates for the Senior Civil Engineer and project management.

• Assist in preparing project close-out documentation, lessons learned, and technical reports.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

• Licensed Civil Engineer in the Philippines is required.

Experience

• At least three (3) to five (5) years of experience in civil engineering, preferably involving renewable energy, power, industrial, or infrastructure projects.

• Experience in the design or construction of utility-scale solar PV, wind, substations, transmission lines, or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects is an advantage.

• Experience working with consultants, contractors, or EPC organizations is preferred.

Technical Knowledge

• Working knowledge of site grading, drainage design, earthworks, road design, foundation systems, retaining structures, and reinforced concrete works.

• Familiarity with geotechnical investigations and foundation design principles.

• Basic understanding of high-voltage substations, transmission line civil works, and renewable energy facilities is desirable.

• Familiarity with applicable engineering standards such as the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP), ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, and relevant international standards.

Software Skills

• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.

• Working knowledge of Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, or similar engineering software is an advantage.

• Experience using project management or document control systems is desirable.

• Willingness to travel frequently and work at project sites across Luzon, Visayas, and other project locations as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with utility-scale solar PV, wind farms, or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

• Familiarity with erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, and environmental compliance requirements.

• Experience supporting QA/QC inspections and construction supervision.

• Previous experience with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), Owners' Engineers, engineering consultants, or EPC contractors is an advantage.
