Civil Engineering Intern - Structural/Bridges

The Poughkeepsie, NY Office of Modjeski and Masters Inc., is seeking students interested in an internship focused on Bridge Design and Analysis.

What We’re Looking For

• Working towards a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
• Ideal Candidate will have completed at least two of following courses, Concrete Design, Steel Design; Prestressed Concrete Design; Structural Analysis.

W****hat You’ll Do

• Assisting in the review and verification of standard structural design calculations.
• Supporting the structural analysis and design of bridge components using engineering software tools.
• Helping develop preliminary design details using CAD software and providing input to CAD technicians for contract plan development.
• Contributing to design reports by compiling relevant technical information.
• Communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, in a professional engineering environment.
• Reviewing and checking engineering drawings under the close supervision of a Senior Engineer.
• Gain exposure of structural analysis and design software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Learning and applying relevant design specifications and standards, including AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, and ACI.
