Civil Litigation Attorney

Hammond Law Firm, PLLC | Tyler, Texas | Full-time, in person

Base salary: $130,000–$180,000 per year, depending on experience, plus performance-based bonus opportunities

Hammond Law Firm is seeking a civil litigation attorney who wants meaningful case ownership, direct client relationships, and the opportunity to help shape a growing litigation practice.

Our litigation work focuses on real estate, business, and construction-related disputes. This position is ideal for an attorney who can independently manage a docket, exercise sound judgment, and move matters from initial evaluation through settlement or trial.

You will have primary responsibility for your cases, supported by legal staff and direct access to firm leadership for collaboration on strategy and complex issues.

Your Role

• Manage civil litigation matters from intake through resolution.
• Develop case strategy, assess risk, and advise clients on practical options.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation documents.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Represent clients at hearings, mediations, and trial, as appropriate.
• Negotiate settlements consistent with client objectives.
• Maintain clear, timely client communication.
• Coordinate with legal staff to manage deadlines and case progress.
• Record time accurately and consistently meet established billing and performance expectations.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing.
• At least three years of civil litigation experience.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cases independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Strong legal writing, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
• Experience taking depositions and handling contested hearings.
• Strong organization, responsiveness, and attention to deadlines.
• Experience with real estate, business, or construction disputes preferred.
