Civil Project Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Civil Project Engineer to assist on projects from conception through completion. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise in civil engineering, project management, and construction oversight to construction projects. As a key project team member, you will drive project success by assisting your project management team, ensuring quality standards, and fostering effective communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams. Your innovative approach and proactive mindset will contribute to delivering sustainable, efficient civil solutions that meet client needs and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager, Safety Manager, Superintendent, and field supervision with daily project coordination.
• Track project quantities, trucking, material deliveries, field production, and associated costs.
• Prepare, submit, and track submittals, RFIs, material reports, haul summaries, and other required project documentation.
• Assist with cost and production tracking, including unit-rate work, production goals, and phase-code allocation.
• Track and document extra work, including Force Account Sheets (FAS), Extra Work Orders (EWO), and change orders.
• Assist with change-order pricing, including obtaining vendor and subcontractor quotes, material pricing, and lead times.
• Attend project meetings and assist with meeting preparation, minutes, action items, and follow-up coordination.
• Assist with weekly timecard review, including verification of hours, quantities, and phase-code allocation.
• Coordinate with field supervision, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to support project operations.
• Assist with invoice coding, project buyout, scheduling, billing, WIP reporting, and other project administration as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve project planning, communication, production, and overall efficiency.

Skills

• Strong proficiency in Excel, B2W, CivCore, Bluebeam, and other Civil Software
• Document Control: RFI's, Submittals, change orders, daily logs, and keeping the paper trail clean.
• Excellent client communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly and professionally.
• Familiarity with construction estimating techniques to support budgeting efforts.
• Strong organizational skills in managing multiple priorities during the permitting phase or construction inspection activities while maintaining attention to detail.
• Quantity tracking and cost awareness: understanding how installed quantities tie to pay apps, job cost, and the estimate.
• Strong ability for written and verbal communication for clear, timely, unemotional correspondence with owners, management, inspectors, and subs.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
