Civil Project Manager

Most civil jobs wind down in December. This one winds up.

I'm Andrew from Itch. A civil contractor has won the earthworks on a wind farm that will help power one of Australia's biggest gold mines, and they need a Project Manager to run it.

You live by the program, so here's this one.

PROJECT PROGRAM: REV 0

MILESTONE 0: AWARD (what's in it for you)

• Up to $200K + super, plus a 20% STI
• 8/6 FIFO. Six days home every swing
• Expected to be permanent, not a six-month contract
• Your project, end to end, from mobilisation to defects

MILESTONE 1: MOBILISATION, DECEMBER

One to two months with a crew of around 20: 14 operators plus engineering, fitters and supervisors. Site clearing, turbine pad prep and plenty of bulk earthworks.

MILESTONES 2 AND 3: THE RAMP UP

Two bigger stages, and the team grows to around 45. You'll:

• Own the program, budget, forecasts and cost reporting
• Run the contract: variations, progress claims, EOTs
• Front the client, consultants, subbies and authorities
• Line up plant, people and materials with the site team
• Keep safety and quality first, every shift
• Develop your Project Engineer into the next you

MILESTONE 4: PRACTICAL COMPLETION

Five to six months in. Then, instead of updating your CV, you roll onto the next project.

CRITICAL PATH (the must haves)

• Proven Civil Project Manager with strong bulk earthworks
• Civil mining or remote projects, ideally FIFO
• You've scaled a crew from 20 to 45 and held the program
• Solid on AS 4000, AS 2124 or similar
• WA driver's licence and White Card
• Bonus points: a civil engineering or construction management degree

You'd rather walk the pads than read about them, and you're just as sharp in a cost report.
