Civil QAQC Engineer

Job purpose

Ensure civil and structural construction works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, and quality requirements. Implement quality assurance and quality control procedures, conduct inspections, and maintain records throughout project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the Project Quality Plan, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and approved quality procedures.
• Review drawings, specifications, method statements, and material submittals to identify quality requirements.
• Inspect civil works, including excavation, backfilling, reinforcement, formwork, concrete placement, waterproofing, masonry, and finishing.
• Verify incoming materials against approved submittals and maintain material inspection records.
• Prepare and submit work inspection requests and material inspection requests, coordinating inspections with consultants and clients.
• Witness and coordinate laboratory and field testing, including concrete slump and compressive strength tests, soil compaction tests, and other specified tests.
• Identify nonconforming work, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and verify corrective actions before closure.
• Monitor subcontractors’ workmanship and compliance with approved construction methods.
• Verify measuring and testing equipment has valid calibration records.
• Maintain inspection reports, test results, checklists, material certificates, and quality tracking registers.
• Support quality audits and prepare periodic quality performance reports.
• Coordinate snagging, final inspections, and preparation of quality documentation for project handover.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Typically 3–5 years of civil construction QA/QC experience, adjusted to project requirements.
• Experience in building, infrastructure, or industrial construction projects.
• Working knowledge of relevant construction codes, standards, specifications, and ISO 9001 quality management principles.
• ISO 9001 internal auditor certification is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, inspections, and testing.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Accurate documentation and technical report writing.
• Effective communication and coordination with site teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
• Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD and document management systems.
• Attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to resolve quality issues promptly.
