Job Description Site Civil Engineer ( Steel Plant)

Job Purpose
The Site Civil Engineer will be responsible for supervising and coordinating daily civil construction activities at the plant site & project site, ensuring that all works are completed as per approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily civil construction activities, including excavation, backfilling, reinforcement, formwork, concreting, and the construction of equipment foundations, pipe rack foundations, cable trenches, drainage systems, roads, and other plant facilities.
• Ensure all site activities are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and method statements, and coordinate with the engineering team to resolve any technical issues or site discrepancies.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, surveyors, QA/QC, HSE, and other disciplines to ensure smooth execution of construction activities and avoid delays.
• Check foundation dimensions, levels, reinforcement, anchor bolt locations, and embedded items before concrete pouring and ensure all required inspections are completed.
• Monitor daily work progress, manpower, materials, and equipment, and report any delays or site issues to the Construction Manager.
• Maintain daily site reports, track completed works, update red-line drawings, and assist with as-built documentation and final handover.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, with 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in civil construction.
Experience in Steel/Iron plants, Power plants, or other EPC projects is preferred.
Experience in civil construction in African Countries at remote areas will be an added advantage.

Technical Knowledge and Skills
Good knowledge of civil and structural construction, reinforced concrete works, equipment foundations, earthworks, and site execution procedures. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, QA/QC procedures, will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities and Performance Expectations
The Site Civil Engineer is expected to maintain construction quality, achieve planned progress targets, minimize rework, coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure that all assigned works are completed safely and within the approved project schedule.
