What they need

Civil Structural Engineer

Take ownership of civil & structural engineering deliverables and grow into a lead role.

Location: Surrey, BC (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Travel: Travel to project sites required as needed

Reports To: Project Manager

Hycroft is looking for an Intermediate Civil Structural Engineer ready to lead design packages, coach junior staff, and take meaningful ownership of project deliverables. If you have 5–10 years of civil & structural engineering experience and want to step further into technical leadership, this is a great place to do it.

About the Role

As an Intermediate Civil Structural Engineer at Hycroft, you will lead the civil & structural engineering design effort on small-to-medium projects and contribute to larger ones. You will coordinate with multi-discipline teams, mentor junior engineers and designers, and act as a key technical point of contact for clients and vendors.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Surrey, BC office. You will balance design work, project coordination, and field engagement across mining, oil & gas, and industrial projects.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the preparation of civil & structural engineering design deliverables — drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports
  • Develop scopes of work, design criteria, equipment lists, and datasheets
  • Specify and procure structural steel, concrete foundations, and earthworks
  • Coordinate with designers, multi-discipline engineers, contractors, and vendors
  • Review and check work of junior engineers and designers; provide technical mentorship
  • Manage the engineering portion of small-to-medium projects, including scope, schedule, and budget tracking
  • Conduct site visits, support construction, and assist with commissioning activities
  • Apply NBC, CSA S16, CSA A23.3, and applicable provincial codes and client standards; ensure work meets Hycroft QA/QC procedures

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Structural Engineering or related discipline
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligibility to register with EGBC
  • 5–10 years of industrial civil & structural engineering design experience (oil & gas, mining, or process plants)
  • Working knowledge of NBC, CSA S16, CSA A23.3, and applicable provincial codes
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro or RISA, and structural analysis tools and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with structural steel and concrete design, foundations, seismic analysis, and earthworks
  • Background in industrial sectors (oil & gas, mining, process plants)
  • Prior experience mentoring junior staff or running small project teams
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, BigTime, or similar

Why Hycroft

  • Competitive compensation aligned with your experience and skills
  • Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Hybrid work model with flexibility to balance home and office
  • Real opportunities for growth, mentorship, and advancement
  • A strong safety culture and a team that genuinely supports each other
  • Variety of project work across oil & gas, mining, and industrial sectors
