What they need
What you’ll do :-

- Perform gravity, lateral, seismic, wind, snow, and blast load analysis per ASCE 7, IBC, AISC 360, ACI 318, AASHTO LRFD, NDS, and local code amendments
- Model and analyze structures in ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, SAFE, RAM, STAAD.Pro, or similar, and verify results with hand calculations
- Produce calculations, drawings, and specifications in Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Tekla, coordinating tightly with architects, MEP, geotechnical, and civil teams
- Design foundations, retaining walls, culverts, bridge components, and other civil structures, working from geotechnical reports and survey data
- Assess existing structures for condition, capacity, and code compliance, including forensic investigations, load rating, and retrofit and seismic upgrade design
- Perform site visits for field observation, inspections, and construction administration, reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
- Support permitting by responding to plan review comments and working with building officials and DOT agencies
- Use BIM, parametric design, and generative tools (Grasshopper, Dynamo) to compare options and cut material use and embodied carbon
- Use Python or Excel to automate calculations and checks, and use AI-assisted tools carefully to speed up drafting and research, with your professional judgment and sealed-drawing responsibility on every deliverable
- Support sustainability goals such as LEED, low-carbon concrete, and mass timber, and help clients balance cost, schedule, and performance
- Write clear technical reports, proposals, and fee estimates, and take part in project budgeting and scheduling
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians, and grow client relationships that bring repeat work
Find your level :-
- Level Typical experience What you’ll own
- Structural Engineer I / EIT - 0-2 years : Calculations, models, drawing markups, field observations, and design support, learning with a dedicated mentor and a paid path to your PE and SE
- Structural Engineer II / Project Engineer - 2-6 years : Owning design packages and smaller projects, leading analysis and coordination, running construction administration, and mentoring junior staff
- Senior Structural Engineer - 6+ years : Leading major projects and client relationships, sealing drawings as a PE/SE, setting technical standards, reviewing the work of others, and driving business growth
Promotion criteria are written down at every level, with regular career conversations. Many of our engineers have moved into project manager, principal, specialty roles (bridges, seismic, forensics, tall buildings), and practice leadership.
