What they need

Concreteworks East is a custom manufacturer of architectural precast concrete products, specializing in high-performance Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) facade cladding, rainscreen panels, and other custom architectural elements. We collaborate with leading architects, contractors, developers, and design professionals to bring ambitious architectural concepts to life through innovative materials, custom fabrication, and technical expertise.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cladding Estimator to serve as the primary estimator for our custom GFRC facade cladding projects. This is a client-facing, technically focused role that combines construction estimating, fabrication planning, and architectural design collaboration.

The ideal candidate understands facade construction, rainscreen systems, panel attachment methods, and the practical considerations involved in manufacturing custom architectural components. They will take ownership of the estimating process, from initial drawing review and scope development through cost analysis and proposal presentation.

This individual must be comfortable leading technical discussions with architects, general contractors, and installers, helping clients navigate design challenges and identify practical, cost-effective, and buildable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Cost Development

  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents to define scope and perform detailed quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam.
  • Develop comprehensive project estimates covering raw materials, fabrication labor, molds, finishing, hardware, engineering, and other applicable project costs.
  • Develop preliminary fabrication plans to establish efficient manufacturing methods, labor requirements, material usage, and production costs.
  • Evaluate project requirements, identify potential cost risks, and recommend alternative approaches or value-engineering opportunities.
  • Prepare professional proposals, budgets, pricing breakdowns, and scope clarifications for presentation to clients.

Technical Design & Fabrication Coordination

  • Lead scope reviews and design discussions with architects, contractors, facade consultants, and installers.
  • Evaluate facade layouts, panel configurations, joint conditions, attachment methods, and installation requirements to help establish a practical project approach.
  • Collaborate with in-house product designers and mold designers to develop efficient fabrication strategies for complex custom panels.
  • Coordinate with external engineers, rainscreen system providers, hardware vendors, and material suppliers to establish appropriate technical solutions and obtain project-specific quotations.
  • Identify design discrepancies, missing information, scope gaps, and constructability concerns before they become costly issues during production or installation.

Client & Vendor Management

  • Serve as a primary technical and commercial resource for clients throughout the preconstruction and estimating process.
  • Lead meetings and communicate confidently with architects, contractors, installers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Request, evaluate, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations to develop accurate project pricing.
  • Clearly communicate project assumptions, exclusions, qualifications, and budget implications in proposals.
  • Coordinate with the internal sales and production teams to support a smooth transition from estimating to project execution when a project is awarded.

Estimating Process & Organization

  • Manage multiple active estimates, competing priorities, and bid deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Maintain organized estimating files, supplier pricing information, labor assumptions, and historical project cost data.
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating methods, cost databases, and fabrication budgeting practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in architectural or construction estimating.
  • 2+ years of experience in facade, cladding, rainscreen, or related building envelope systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Bluebeam Revu, including drawing review, measurement, and quantity takeoffs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, and technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of facade construction, rainscreen assemblies, panel attachment systems, and installation means and methods.
  • Ability to develop detailed estimates by evaluating material quantities, fabrication labor, manufacturing methods, and project-specific requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to lead meetings and present technical recommendations to architects and contractors.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GFRC, GRC, precast concrete, architectural panels, or other custom-fabricated facade products.
  • Familiarity with facade engineering, structural attachment systems, undercut anchors, and proprietary rainscreen hardware.
  • Experience coordinating with design teams, engineers, manufacturers, and specialty subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM and project tracking systems.
  • Experience with fabrication budgeting, production planning, value engineering, or custom manufacturing.
  • Background in architecture, construction management, engineering, or a related technical discipline.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who combines the technical knowledge of a facade professional with the commercial judgment of an experienced estimator. The successful candidate will take ownership of their estimates, ask the right questions, identify problems early, and confidently guide clients toward solutions that balance architectural intent, fabrication efficiency, installation requirements, and project budget.

This is an opportunity to work on distinctive architectural projects where custom design and technical problem-solving are central to the work.
