Class 1 (C+E) Artic Day Driver

About the role

R. Tindall (Fabricators) Ltd is looking for an experienced, reliable Class 1 (Category C+E) driver to join our transport team. This is predominantly a local day-driving role, mainly shuttling pipework and fabricated steel products between our Rochdale and Oldham sites, with occasional local deliveries to customers and construction sites.

Nights out may be required occasionally, but these will be few and far between.

Pay and working hours

· £15.00 per hour for the first 50 hours worked.

· Overtime paid at time and a half (£22.50 per hour) after 50 hours.

· Hours generally between 06:00 and 18:00, depending on operational requirements.

· £26.20 allowance for each night out when required.

· Overnight parking paid for through SNAP when a night out is required.

· Holiday entitlement in line with company policy.

Main duties

· Carry out regular artic shuttle movements between Rochdale and Oldham.

· Undertake occasional local customer and construction-site deliveries.

· Safely strap and secure pipe loads on curtainsider trailers.

· Complete digital vehicle walkaround checks and report defects promptly.

· Use driver apps to receive jobs, manage delivery information, provide updates and complete electronic paperwork.

· Work safely and comply with drivers’ hours, tachograph and load-security requirements.

What we are looking for

· Valid Category C+E licence, Driver CPC and digital tachograph card.

· Previous Class 1 artic driving experience.

· Confident and experienced in strapping pipe and securing loads on curtainsider trailers.

· Comfortable using mobile phone apps for daily checks, receiving jobs and electronic documentation.

· Good understanding of drivers’ hours, tachograph regulations and safe loading.

· Maximum six penalty points; no CU, IN or DD offences.

· Experience of construction-site deliveries or steel products would be an advantage.
