Class 1 Driver

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Class 1 Driver to join our logistics team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting freight across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards. Your expertise in commercial driving combined with your ability to operate heavy equipment will contribute significantly to our operational success. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced environment where your skills and commitment make a real difference every day.

This position can turn into a full time position. Currently looking for a driver to fill vacation days, sick days and personal days.

Duties

• Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks to transport freight over short and long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and other critical systems
• Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
• Maintain accurate documentation for deliveries, pickups, and vehicle logs in compliance with company policies and legal requirements
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly
• Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to ensure vehicle readiness and safety
• Follow all safety protocols and company policies to promote a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues
• Ability to drive a 5 ton truck and be able to do in-town deliveries in and out of truck
• Highway switch haul

Requirements

• Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
• Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably with freight transportation experience
• Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts safely and efficiently
• Knowledge of freight handling procedures and securement techniques
• Basic automotive repair skills for routine vehicle maintenance or troubleshooting
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and safe operations
• Physical ability to lift heavy loads, perform inspections, and work in various weather conditions
