Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and energetic Part-time Class 1 Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. This role offers flexible hours for drivers who are passionate about delivering excellence on the road. As a key player in our transportation operations, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods, primarily utilizing curtain sided and refrigerated trailers, to various destinations. Your expertise in commercial driving combined with your delivery experience will ensure our customers receive their orders on time and in perfect condition. This position provides an excellent opportunity for drivers looking to work part-time while maintaining a high standard of safety and professionalism.

Duties

• Safely operate Class 1 HGV vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies
• Load, secure, and unload cargo with precision, ensuring proper handling of fragile or heavy items
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each shift to guarantee safety and compliance with regulations
• Plan efficient routes to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel usage and minimizing delays
• Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery statuses, delays, or issues encountered on the road
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle maintenance reports
• Assist with loading and unloading goods when necessary, ensuring proper handling of all cargo types

Experience

• Proven experience as a commercial delivery driver, preferably with flatbed trailer operation
• Valid Class 1 HGV license with a clean driving record
• Demonstrated knowledge of safe driving practices and road safety regulations
• Experience in handling freight securely on flatbed trailers and understanding load restraints
• Prior experience working as a delivery driver in fast-paced environments is highly desirable
• Familiarity with route planning software or GPS navigation tools is advantageous
