Class 1 HGV Driver – Flexible Contract Work

We are looking for experienced and reliable Class 1 HGV Drivers to support our transport operation with holiday cover and ad hoc work.

This is an ideal opportunity for drivers who operate on a self-employed basis and are looking for flexible work to fit around their existing commitments. Whether you're available to cover planned holidays or pick up additional work as and when required, we are keen to hear from professional drivers who take pride in their work and deliver a high standard of service.

We welcome experienced drivers who are confident working independently, understand the demands of commercial transport and can be relied upon to represent the business professionally.

The Role

• Providing holiday cover and ad hoc driving support as required.
• Transporting goods safely, efficiently and in line with delivery schedules.
• Operating Class 1 vehicles, including flatbed vehicles where required.
• Carrying out vehicle checks and ensuring compliance with road safety and transport regulations.
• Securing loads correctly and following relevant loading, unloading and safety procedures.
• Maintaining professional communication with the transport team, customers and delivery sites.
• Working independently while maintaining high standards of safety, reliability and professionalism.

What We're Looking For

• A valid Class 1 (C+E) driving licence.
• Proven experience in Class 1 HGV driving.
• Flatbed experience is highly desirable.
• A strong understanding of road safety, load security and transport regulations.
• A professional, reliable and flexible approach to work.
• The ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
• A commitment to safe driving and excellent customer service.

Rates & Working Arrangements

• Pay from £18 per hour, with rates negotiable depending on experience, qualifications and suitability for the work.
• £25 per night out.
• Weekend work and overtime opportunities may be available.
• Shifts and hours will vary depending on holiday cover and ad hoc requirements, with busy cover periods potentially averaging around 60 hours per week.
