Class 2 Driver (Horticulture)

Boningale Nurseries is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of hardy nursery stock to the commercial landscaping sector. We are seeking a dependable and professional Class 2 HGV Driver to join our small and friendly team in Albrighton, ensuring our plants, shrubs and trees are delivered safely and efficiently to customers across the UK.

Role Overview:

You will deliver horticultural products nationwide using a range of fleet vehicles, from 26‑tonne down to 3.5‑tonne, depending on the delivery route and schedule. Deliveries follow pre‑planned routes and may be to customer yards, construction sites, landscaping projects or private homes.

The role involves early starts and occasional nights out, although overnight stays are infrequent. During quieter periods, you will support the Despatch and Yard teams with general duties. This role involves the handling and moving of heavy and large plants and trees as part of routine loading and unloading.

Job Responsibilities:

• Carry out safe, efficient, and timely Class 2 deliveries to customers across the UK using multiple vehicle types (26t, 18t, 7.5t, 3.5t).
• Load and unload vehicles, ensuring plants and trees are handled with care.
• Deliver excellent customer service and act as a professional representative of the company.
• Follow all transport legislation, company policies, and health & safety procedures.
• Assist with general yard and Despatch duties during quieter periods.
• Ensure vehicles are kept clean, maintained, and report any defects promptly.
• Maintain accurate delivery records and comply with all transport legislation.
• Keep vehicles clean, roadworthy, and report defects promptly.
• Work safely and professionally at all times.

Attributes & Experience Required:

• Full UK Manual Driving Licence including Class 2 (Category C).
• CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph card.
• Previous commercial driving experience and good knowledge of UK road networks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Friendly, helpful attitude with strong communication skills.
• Comfortable with manual handling - lifting heavy and large plants, trees and horticultural stock.
• Organised, reliable, and able to manage workload effectively.
• Comfortable with early starts as required by delivery routes.

Working Hours: 39 hours per week, worked between; 8.00 am – 5.00 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00 am – 4.00 pm Friday. Early starts may be required when driving. Overtime is available when required and is paid at time and a half. No weekend work is required.
