Class 5 Bitumen Tanker Driver

Description Higgins is looking for a Class 5 Driver to join our Napier team operating our bitumen tanker fleet. Based in Napier, you'll play a key role in delivering and transferring bitumen safely and efficiently between Napier Port and Awatoto, supporting our Manufacturing and Port operations. While most work is local, there may be the occasional trip further afield.

What You'll Be Doing

• Operating a Class 5 Hino 700 bitumen tanker and trailer
• Safely delivering and transferring bitumen between sites
• Managing pump operations and specialised bitumen handling equipment
• Completing electronic logbooks and operational reporting using smart devices
• Working closely with the wider Manufacturing and Port team
• Maintaining high standards of safety, vehicle care, and customer service

What You'll Bring

• Class 5 licence
• Experience driving truck and trailer units preferred
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and professional driving standards
• Confidence using smartphones, tablets, and electronic logbook systems
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work well within a team
• Flexibility to work occasional weekends or overnight stays as required

The Following Would Be Advantageous, But Are Not Essential

• Dangerous Goods endorsement
• Linehaul driving experience
• Bulk liquid or dynamic load transport experience
• Experience within bitumen, roading, infrastructure, or construction environments
