About HDPS

We are the authorised Parts and Service Dealer for Kenworth and DAF Trucks and a Full-Service Dealer for Cummins engines. Across our South Island network, we're known for quality workmanship, outstanding customer service, and a strong team culture.
We're looking for a reliable and motivated Class 5 Driver to join our Timaru workshop. This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll play a key part in keeping our workshop running efficiently by transporting customer vehicles, supporting our technicians, and ensuring the workshop and yard are maintained to a high standard.
What you'll be doing
No two days are the same. Your responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating movements and road tests of customer vehicles.
- Moving trucks and equipment around the workshop and yard.
- Liaising with the Workshop Manager, Foreman, Leading Hand and Service Advisors to coordinate vehicle movements and daily workshop priorities.
- Test driving vehicles following repairs and servicing.
- Assisting technicians with preventative maintenance and workshop support tasks.
- Maintaining workshop trucks and company vehicles to a high standard.
- Monitoring and recording vehicle registration, RUC and service information.
- Keeping the workshop, wash bay and yard clean, tidy and well presented.
- Maintaining warranty and lease company parts bins and workshop equipment.
- Delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining strong communication with customers and colleagues.
- Working safely and following all HDPS operational policies and procedures.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who enjoys being part of a busy workshop and takes pride in getting the job done.
You'll have:
- A current New Zealand Class 5 Driver Licence (essential).
- Class F (Forklift) and Dangerous Goods (DG) endorsements are preferred. If you don't currently hold these, you'll be expected to obtain them through HDPS.
- A strong commitment to health and safety.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- A proactive, hands-on attitude.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Why join HDPS?
- Competitive hourly rate.
- Monday to Friday role.
- Stable, long-term employment with a well-established Canterbury-owned business.
- Ongoing training and development opportunities.
- A supportive team environment where your contribution is valued.
- The opportunity to work with leading brands including Kenworth, DAF and Cummins.
If you're reliable, enjoy variety, and want to play an important role in a busy heavy diesel workshop, we'd love to hear from you.
