Heavy haul drivers coordinate with dispatchers and other logistics personnel while driving their routes. They frequently provide updates on delivery timelines, routes, and miles driven.

A typical workday varies depending on the route. All heavy truck drivers must have commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) and are responsible for efficiently and effectively transporting materials from one location to another.

In this role, heavy truck drivers are also responsible for inspecting and maintaining their vehicles before driving, while on the road, and after making deliveries.

• Transport heavy equipment such as construction machinery, industrial components, or oversized loads to and from designated sites interviewguy.com+1.
• Inspect and prepare vehicles before each haul, including pre‑trip and post‑trip safety checks interviewguy.com+1.
• Load, secure, and unload equipment using proper tie‑downs, straps, and binders to prevent damage during transit interviewguy.com+1.
• Plan optimal routes considering load weight, size, road conditions, and regulatory requirements interviewguy.com+1.
• Adhere to DOT, federal, and state transportation regulations and company safety policies interviewguy.com+1.
• Monitor road conditions and handle unexpected situations like detours or accidents interviewguy.com.
• Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles and equipment interviewguy.com+1.
• Maintain accurate records of pickups, deliveries, maintenance, and inspection documents interviewguy.com+1.
• Coordinate with dispatchers, site managers, warehouse staff, and clients to ensure timely, accurate deliveries
