Duties

• Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions across designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring cargo integrity and security
• Plan efficient routes for timely deliveries while managing route driving responsibilities to optimize fuel usage and delivery schedules.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before and after each trip.
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, delivery receipts, and inspection reports in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and customers to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and any unforeseen issues during transit.

Experience

• Proven experience as a commercial truck driver with a valid Class A CDL license.
• Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently in various conditions.
• Prior experience driving different types of freight vehicles such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with load & unload procedures using forklifts or other equipment; experience with freight handling is a plus.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols related to trucking operations and cargo securement standards.
• Excellent route planning skills with a focus on efficiency and timeliness in delivery schedules.
• Ability to meet physical demands including lifting heavy loads when necessary and performing routine vehicle inspections.
