Position Summary

This position is responsible for the operation, inspection, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of multiple drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities located primarily in Lake County

A company vehicle is provided for work-related travel.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
• No felony convictions.
• Florida Drinking Water and Wastewater Operator Certifications (Class C or higher).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple facilities efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on pumps, motors, valves, chemical feed equipment, and other mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and operational issues to minimize downtime.
• Collect required water and wastewater samples and perform field testing, including pH, chlorine residual, and other required analyses.
• Maintain accurate operational logs, maintenance records, and regulatory documentation.
• Monitor plant performance and make process adjustments to maintain compliance with applicable regulations.
• Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability, efficiency, and overall performance.
• Safely handle treatment chemicals and follow all applicable safety procedures.

Preferred Experience

• Experience operating drinking water and/or wastewater treatment facilities.
• Working knowledge of Florida DEP operating requirements.
• Experience with pumps, motors, controls, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
• Familiarity with sampling procedures, laboratory testing, and regulatory reporting.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to chemical feed rates, process control, and operational adjustments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and perform manual labor throughout the workday.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
