Floater Teacher — Early Childhood Education

Position Summary
The Modern Schoolhouse is seeking a flexible, enthusiastic Floater Teacher who is passionate about early childhood education and excited to gain experience across multiple age groups. This position is ideal for an educator who enjoys variety, is eager to learn, and wants the opportunity to grow within TMS.

Unlike a teacher assigned to one classroom, the Floater Teacher provides support wherever the school needs it most each day. This may include assisting in infant, toddler, preschool, or TK classrooms, providing coverage during breaks, supporting classroom transitions, or stepping into a classroom when additional support is needed.

Schedule & Flexibility

This position requires flexibility in both daily classroom placement and responsibilities. While scheduled work hours will be established by administration, classroom assignments may change throughout the day based on staffing, ratios, breaks, enrollment, and the needs of the children.

The Floater Teacher should be comfortable moving between classrooms and age groups and understand that flexibility is an essential part of this role.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support across infant, toddler, preschool, and/or TK classrooms as assigned.
• Maintain required teacher-to-child ratios and actively supervise children.
• Support lead teachers with classroom routines, activities, small-group instruction, meals, diapering/toileting, nap, outdoor play, and transitions.
• Build warm, responsive relationships with children across different developmental stages.
• Learn and consistently follow TMS classroom routines, curriculum practices, health and safety procedures, and behavior-guidance philosophy.
• Step confidently into classrooms while respecting the routines and leadership already established by the classroom teachers.
• Assist with classroom preparation, organization, cleaning, sanitizing, and resetting environments as needed.
• Communicate professionally and collaborate with teachers, administration, children, and families.
• Remain adaptable when classroom assignments or daily needs change.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
