Job Type: Temporary – 5 days Dates: Monday 19 October to Friday 23 October 2026

Pay Rate: £12.00 per hour

Payment Terms: Wages paid 30 days after the work is completed, subject to agreed payment terms.

Job Description

We are looking to recruit one or two reliable and hardworking temporary site operatives to provide cover at two locations in the Luton and Harpenden areas for five consecutive working days.

The successful candidate(s) must be punctual, dependable and able to travel between both sites each day.

Work Locations and Hours

Site 1: East Hyde Site, Luton – LU1 3TS

• Working hours: 8:00 am – 11:00 am
• Daily duration: 3 hours

Site 2: Harpenden Sewage Treatment Works (STW), Harpenden – AL5 5UN

• Working hours: 11:30 am – 5:30 pm
• Daily duration: 6 hours

Working days: Monday to Friday, 19–23 October 2026.

Total working time: 9 hours per day, 45 hours over the five-day period, per employee covering both sites.

Pay and Payment

• Hourly rate: £12.00
• Daily pay: £108.00
• Total pay for five days: £540.00 per employee, before any applicable deductions.
• Wages will be paid 30 days after completion of the assignment, in accordance with the agreed payment terms.

Requirements

• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Able to travel between the two sites within the scheduled break.
• Available for all five working days.
• Able to follow site rules, health and safety procedures, and instructions.
• Previous site or cleaning experience is desirable but not essential, depending on the duties required.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning of commercial spaces, including floors, windows, restrooms, and common areas
• Use appropriate cleaning tools and chemicals safely and effectively to ensure high-quality results
• Maintain cleaning schedules and prioritize tasks to meet operational needs
• Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, and other hygiene products as needed
• Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly to management
• Assist with special cleaning projects or deep cleans during off-peak hours

Skills

• Proven experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial work preferred
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality standards
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent time management skills to complete tasks efficiently within scheduled shifts
• Good physical stamina to perform cleaning duties that involve standing, bending, and lifting
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, safety procedures, and proper handling techniques
• Positive attitude with a commitment to maintaining a hygienic environment
