Practice Cleaner

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Practice Cleaner to maintain a high standard of cleanliness within our busy GP practice. Duties include cleaning clinical and non-clinical areas. The hours of work are Monday - Friday 6pm - 8pm.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to complete a Level 2 Disclosure Scotland check.

Responsibilities

• Carry out specialised cleaning tasks as designated by infection control
• Empty and clean all waste bins (domestic, clinical, recyclable) and replace with the appropriate coloured liner.
• Remove all waste and place waste containers within the health centre/offices. Remove all waste from the site to the appropriate containers within the practice
• The work will include high and low dusting, damp dusting, suction cleaning, mopping and scrubbing - Perform comprehensive cleaning duties across the facilities, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces.
• Replenish all disposables throughout the areas as required: such as hand soap/gel, hand towels, toilet tissue.
• Report equipment failures and any structural damage to the Office Manager
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms, kitchens, and common areas to ensure they meet health and safety standards.
• Use appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies safely and effectively to achieve optimal results.
• Follow detailed cleaning schedules and checklists to ensure all areas are maintained regularly.
• Uphold health and safety regulations at all times to protect yourself and others in the workplace.
• Report to Management with plenty of notice when stock needs ordered - so as not to run out

Qualifications

• Proven experience in cleaning or janitorial work is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing time effectively.
• Good physical stamina to stand, bend, lift, and perform cleaning tasks throughout the shift. There are stairs in the practice
• Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, including the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

There are work schedules in each area detailing how frequently each task is required to be done (daily/weekly/monthly/yearly) which must be followed but there is also a need to work with initiative.

As the shifts are outwith normal working hours, you will need to secure the premises on leaving at end of a shift. This may involve operating an alarm system and/or the use of keys for the premises.
