About the Position

The Town of Fishkill is looking for qualified candidates capable of providing janitorial/cleaning services at four (4) venues consisting of the Town Hall, the Town Recreation Building, Highway Administrative Offices and Police Department in the Town of Fishkill. Employees shall be responsible for cleaning and maintenance of restrooms, hallways, lobbies, stairwells, meeting rooms, offices, the recreation center gym floor, as well as general floors, carpets, and windows.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Dusts chairs, tables, desks and other furniture;
• Washes windows, mirrors, walls, woodwork, water closets, tubs, tiles, bowls and chalk boards;
• Cleans hinges, sinks, railings, toilet bowls and urinals with approved solutions;
• Sweeps, mops, washes, strips, vacuums, waxes, buffs and oils floors;
• Gathers and disposes of refuse and recyclables;
• Cleans and polishes furniture and brass;
• May occasionally maintain watch over buildings;
• Does related work as required;

Working Conditions

The frequency of work shall be Monday through Friday for Town Hall and Highway buildings and Monday through Sunday for the Recreation Center and Police Department. Work shall be performed in the afternoon-night after public business operating hours.

Minimum Qualifications

• Three (3) years’ experience cleaning office or public buildings;
• Knowledge of routine cleaning operations, materials and equipment;
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions;
• Thoroughness, punctuality & cleanliness;
• Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position;

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 24.0 per week
