Cleaning Operative

Overview

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Cleaning Operative to join our Operations team and help maintain the high standards of cleanliness and presentation across St Edmund’s.

Working as part of our friendly Cleaning team, you will carry out general cleaning duties across designated areas of the School, helping to provide a clean, hygienic and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

This is a permanent, part-time, term-time only position, working 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 16:30 to 18:30, with occasional additional hours as required. The role is available for an immediate start, with a pay rate of £13.16 per hour.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a good eye for detail and can work effectively as part of a team. Full induction and training will be provided before you begin.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning of commercial areas, including floors, windows, restrooms, kitchens, and communal spaces using appropriate cleaning equipment and products.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene by sanitizing surfaces and waste disposal areas regularly.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure all areas are maintained consistently.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly to management for swift resolution.
• Use janitorial equipment efficiently and safely, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
• Keep accurate records of cleaning activities and supplies used during shifts.
• Support team members in achieving overall cleanliness goals and assist with special cleaning projects as needed.

Skills

• Proven experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial work is highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining efficiency.
• Good physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks such as sweeping, mopping, lifting, and bending throughout the shift.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards related to cleaning practices.
• Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during busy periods.
• Reliable team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Pay: £12.71-£13.16 per hour
