At Sunfire Solutions, we bring bright minds to bear on tough engineering challenges. We focus on full-stack web-based solutions for government and commercial clients. We provide a range of services in software architecture and design, software development, DevOps, and tech modernization. We love technology and feel strongly that talent, energy, and integrity lead to exceptional results.
Description
We are looking for talented Systems Engineers with a TS/SCI security clearance (and active poly) to design, implement, and secure complex enterprise solutions for our clients, with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity. You will work closely with stakeholders and management to gather requirements, take the lead on technical challenges, and mentor junior team members in best security practices. In this role, you should be able to work independently with minimal supervision, communicate effectively, stay organized, and provide detailed technical analysis.
Join a team of experienced engineers that love working with the latest technologies, enjoy hands-on development, and strive to build the best solutions to meet our users’ needs.
What you will be doing:
- Leading the design and implementation of secure enterprise systems and architectures.
- Defining, implementing, and enforcing security controls and best practices across various systems.
- Conducting security assessments, vulnerability analysis, and risk management activities.
- Collaborating with development teams to integrate security into the system development lifecycle (SSDLC).
- Evaluating and recommending new security technologies and tools.
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex security-related technical issues.
- Mentoring junior engineers and sharing advanced cybersecurity knowledge.
- Streamlining security processes and integrating automation for DevSecOps initiatives.
What you will not be doing:
- Spending your days writing user documentation, or designing powerpoints.
- Simply installing and integrating COTS products without strategic security enhancements.
- Working with stagnant technologies or outdated security paradigms.
- Writing status reports or justifying career-goal metrics.
Technical Skills:
- 10+ years of demonstrated systems engineering experience with a strong focus on cybersecurity.
- Extensive knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., NIST RMF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls).
- Significant experience in designing and implementing secure system architectures.
- Proficiency with various cybersecurity tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, endpoint detection and response).
- Experience with network security principles and technologies (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, zero trust architectures).
- Familiarity with cloud security best practices and services, particularly within AWS.
- Strong scripting and automation skills for security operations (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Deep knowledge of Linux operating systems and security hardening.
- Experience with secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) principles.
What you’ll need:
- Active US Government Security Clearance (TS/SCI with active polygraph).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with a proven ability to mentor.
- Willingness to take on challenges and continuously learn new cybersecurity technologies and threats.
- Desire to be at the forefront of your field, anticipating and addressing emerging security challenges.
- Ability to work individually or collaboratively in groups, leading technical discussions and initiatives.
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
