Clerk/Cashier

Job Overview
The Sunflower Bakery & Cafe opened in December of 2025 and we are seeking friendly and hard working staff to help us man the front of the bakery. Pay is $12 an hour but no one has ever made less than $20 an hour with tips, that are split up equally! You will be primarily helping customers and grabbing baked goods, preparing drinks, heating up hot food items, and refilling the case when items start to run out. There will be some cleaning tasks as well.

Schedule: (We are open to hiring people that only want one shift per weekend, 2 shifts, or all 3!) anywhere from 8 - 20 hours per weekend! Extra hours during the week are available for those who are seeking them!

Fridays: 7am - 2pm

Saturdays: 7am - 2pm or 8am - 3pm

Sundays: 7am - 2pm

Duties

• Use cash register to take payment for every transaction, both credit card and cash transactions
• Put donuts and other baked goods on trays and label the trays
• Provide excellent customer service by engaging with shoppers, answering questions about products, and facilitating sales at the market booth (Learning about the products and being able to describe each of them is a MUST but we will train you on everything!)
• Maintain the bakery area, including regular restocking and re-organizing to make the display look as full and attractive as possible
• Assist with merchandising efforts to create appealing displays that attract customers
• Use the espresso machine to make lattes and other specialty drinks like iced teas and lemonades
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations

Experience

• Previous retail sales or customer service experience preferred but not required; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are key
• Familiarity with POS systems (retail cash registers) is a plus
• Strong organizational skills to manage stock levels and maintain a tidy work environment
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and assist customers confidently
• Prior experience in grocery stores, bakeries, or retail environments is helpful but not mandatory

Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 24 per week
