Clerk/cashier

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Clerk/Cashier to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing cash register operations, handling cash drawers, and providing excellent customer service. This role requires strong basic math skills, attention to detail, and the ability to efficiently process retail sales transactions. The Clerk/Cashier plays a vital role in ensuring smooth store operations and a positive shopping experience for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash registers accurately and efficiently during retail sales transactions
• Handle cash drawers with precision, ensuring correct change is given and transactions are properly recorded
• Assist customers with their purchases, providing friendly and professional customer service
• Stock shelves and maintain organized displays to ensure products are readily available for customers
• Perform basic math calculations quickly and accurately to process transactions and manage cash flow
• Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the checkout area to promote a welcoming environment
• Follow all store policies and procedures related to cash handling, safety, and customer service

Requirements

• Prior experience in retail sales or cashier roles is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided
• Strong basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor
• Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and handle cash drawer responsibilities responsibly
• Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage stocking and maintain store cleanliness
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism
• Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including weekends or evenings if required
