What they need

I'm Angus Jenkins. For almost six years, I've been running a leadership development practice, supporting senior leaders who give a damn to be the best version of themselves, cutting through the noise and unleashing potential in their teams and organisations.

I'm a slayer of corporate and leadership BS who works with ambitious teams at places like Fonterra, Fulton Hogan and Auckland Council. My approach? Unapologetically honest leadership development that prioritises humanity, performance and substance over ceremony.

I’m highly curious and creative, with massive energy and a brain that moves fast. You’ll need to enjoy finding the grounding and centre line in a high-paced, creative world — without needing everything to be neat and tidy.

After 25 years in corporate across seven industries (including senior roles at Fonterra), I know what real leadership looks like. And what it doesn't.

I've reached the point where the next stage of this practice needs the right person alongside me.

About the role

Please find the complete PD here: https://bit.ly/angus-jenkins-PD

After six years building this practice, I'm ready for what's next. I want a strategic partner in the business engine while I get on with what I do best, challenging leaders to step up and create real impact.

Think pipeline management that provides clarity and direction, marketing activity that happens consistently, and client experiences that make people go "bloody hell, these guys are here to have an impact."

More than anything, I want someone who carries the momentum with me. Think of it as shared ownership of momentum: seeing what needs to move, taking responsibility for it, and knowing when to pull me in.

On one side that's the commercial engine: researching opportunities, managing pipeline activity, and drafting the pitches for speaking slots, podcasts and other openings, then doing the groundwork that opens up new relationships.

On the other it's looking after the clients we already have, so onboarding is smooth, they feel genuinely cared for, and nothing slips. I'll own the substantive sales conversations and the close; I'm counting on you to keep both sides moving with me.

The work spans four key areas:

  • Opportunity & Relationship Development: Research and identify the right opportunities, keep the pipeline visible and moving, and drive consistent outreach. Draft pitches for me to approve, follow up confidently by phone, text and email, and make sure worthwhile opportunities don’t quietly disappear. You open doors and create movement; I take the substantive conversation and close.
  • Client Experience & Growth: Make sure every client feels how serious we are about their development and success. Create smooth onboarding, thoughtful check-ins and moments that surprise and delight. Keep client intelligence together, make sure nothing slips, and surface natural opportunities to deepen relationships, referrals and future work.
  • Marketing & Brand Presence: Keep our market presence moving consistently: manage newsletter publishing, coordinate campaigns, research speaking, podcast and PR opportunities, and help turn my ideas and existing material into useful content – increasingly using AI to work smarter.
  • Practice Operations & Project Management: Keep the machinery running beautifully. Manage calendar coordination, priorities, travel and logistics, and improve the systems that support the practice. Crucially, you’ll be able to take a classic Angus brain dump, work out what actually matters, brief it back clearly and turn it into action –  without needing me to manage the interpretation.

About You

  • BE AWESOME.  That’s all, kinda serious.
    Okay, here’s a little more…

  • You care about human development. If the idea of helping people become better versions of themselves doesn't light you up, we're not a match.

  • You've got commercial hunger. You create movement, chase the opportunities worth chasing, and take them all the way to a yes or a no.

  • Picking up the phone doesn't faze you. Outbound contact, calls and texts, not just email, is part of the job.

  • You put AI to work. You’re curious and confident with it, can build useful prompts and simple processes or automations, and instinctively ask, “Why are we doing this manually?”

  • You're comfortable with discomfort. Life isn’t always neat and tidy, clarity and confidence aren’t constant. You need to be okay sitting in ambiguity without needing all the answers immediately.

  • You tell the truth. Including "I don't know" when you don't know. I'd rather hear honesty than confident BS.

  • You take responsibility, always. When something goes wrong, you own it. When something goes right, you celebrate it.

  • You're proactive. I want a thinking partner who sees what needs doing and does it.

  • You know how to brief back. Give you a messy conversation and you’ll tell me what you heard, what matters, what you’re doing next and what you need from me.

  • You'll challenge me when I need it. If I'm dodging something, overcomplicating it or letting an important thread drift, you say so, and warmly enough that it feels like having someone in my corner.

  • You value flexibility and use it well. This is remote work with genuine autonomy, and that comes with responsibility: you show up, communicate, follow through and make the hours count.

What you’ll get

This is a rare opportunity to get genuinely close to the building of a leadership practice and the work behind it. You’ll have autonomy, trust, access to fascinating leaders and organisations, and real influence over how the practice evolves.

I’ll expect plenty from you. You should expect plenty from me too: honesty, challenge, humour, generosity, flexibility and a genuine investment in your growth.

Do this role brilliantly and you won’t simply have supported the practice. You’ll be able to see where you helped move it.

The Details

  • Hours: 20 hours per week (5 hrs × 4 days, Tue–Fri)
  • Location: Remote, New Zealand or Australian East Coast. Auckland proximity strongly preferred to enable regular face-to-face collaboration, particularly during onboarding.
  • Arrangement: Contractor
  • Previous experience: Working with thought leaders, coaches, consultants or other founder-led professional services is valued, but the right behavioural fit matters more than the exact background.

How To Apply

Submit via the SEEK application page:

  • Your resume (max 2 pages) & cover letter (1 page max)
  • An optional short video introduction - not compulsory, but a great way for us to get a sense of you, please add a link to your cover letter document.

Interviews commencing week of August 17th 2026

Questions about the role? Contact Katee at [email protected]

Note: applications without a resume AND cover letter will not be considered. Applications via email will also not be considered.

Additional Support & Adjustments

We’re committed to creating an accessible recruitment experience. If you have a disability, neurodivergence, or access requirements, please let me know how I can best support you throughout the process.

Some examples of adjustments available: alternative application formats (video or voice memo instead of a written cover letter), flexible communication methods, additional time for tasks or interview preparation, interview structure modifications, and a brief outlining what to expect and how to prepare.

If you'd like to discuss adjustments or have questions about the process, contact me directly: [email protected]

Our Recruitment Approach

We value your time and want you to know what to expect. Applications are reviewed bi-weekly, and we'll respond to everyone who provides a complete and personalised application - even if it's just to say you're not progressing to the next stage. We don't believe in leaving people wondering.

This process is designed to assess essence and values alignment alongside capability. We’re looking for the right person, not just the best resume.

Other offers great for you!
