Client Experience / Painting Project Manager

That 1 Painter North Detroit | Metro Detroit, MI

Pay: $45,000 to $60,000 per year
Schedule: Full time
Work location: Field-based, with regular travel between Metro Detroit jobsites

About the Role

Do you know how to keep crews productive, customers informed, and projects moving?

That 1 Painter North Detroit is looking for an organized, dependable Client Experience Manager / Painting Project Manager to oversee projects from preparation through the final walkthrough. We help people transform their homes and properties through quality painting and attentive service—and you’ll play a central role in delivering that experience.

You’ll be the main point of contact between customers, painting crews, and management during production. This is an active field role for someone who enjoys leading people, solving problems, and taking ownership of results.

What You’ll Do

Lead crews and keep projects on track

  • Review each project’s scope, labor budget, material allowance, and completion timeline before work begins.
  • Visit jobsites regularly to check progress, workmanship, staffing, cleanliness, and safe work practices.
  • Coordinate schedules and materials to minimize downtime and unnecessary trips.
  • Resolve crew questions, scheduling problems, and jobsite issues promptly.
  • Hold crews accountable for quality, professionalism, and commitments.

Deliver an excellent client experience

  • Introduce yourself as the client's primary contact during production.
  • Provide regular updates on progress, schedule changes, and next steps.
  • Ask for feedback throughout the project and address concerns promptly.
  • Conduct final walkthroughs and ensure punch-list items are completed.
  • Invite satisfied customers to share an honest review.

Protect project profitability

  • Track painter workdays, hours, production, and agreed-upon pay.
  • Verify painter payment information before submitting it to management.
  • Monitor labor and material costs against the project budget.
  • Identify scope discrepancies early and resolve them with management and the customer.
  • Maintain accurate project records and communicate issues before they affect the budget or timeline.

Identify helpful add-on opportunities

  • Recognize additional painting and repair needs while visiting properties.
  • Discuss relevant options with customers without high-pressure selling.
  • Prepare or coordinate estimates for additional work.
  • Document scope changes and obtain customer approval before work begins.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience coordinating painting, construction, remodeling, or other home-service projects.
  • Strong organization and the ability to manage several active jobs.
  • Clear, professional communication with customers and crews.
  • Confidence giving feedback, resolving concerns, and holding people accountable.
  • Comfort tracking labor, materials, budgets, and project documentation.
  • Ability to use a smartphone and project-management software.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel between jobsites.

Painting experience, estimating skills, and experience identifying add-on work are especially valuable.

What Success Looks Like

Your success will be measured by projects completed on schedule and within budget, accurate painter payments, quality workmanship with minimal callbacks, strong customer feedback, profitable approved add-ons, and clear communication.

Apply

Submit your resume through Indeed and include a brief description of your experience managing crews, communicating with customers, and keeping projects on schedule and within budget.

Help us keep painters productive, customers happy, and every project running smoothly.
