Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Climate Control / HVAC Technician to install, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC and environmental control systems for our indoor controlled-environment vertical farm.The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the required temperature, humidity, airflow, ventilation, and environmental conditions necessary for optimal crop growth and reliable farm operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, operate, and maintain HVAC, air-conditioning, ventilation, and climate-control systems within the indoor farm.
• Maintain precise temperature and humidity levels according to crop requirements.
• Monitor and troubleshoot AHUs, FCUs, chillers, compressors, condensers, evaporators, exhaust fans, ventilation systems, and related equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and climate-control equipment.
• Monitor HVAC performance and identify abnormal operating conditions.
• Troubleshoot refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and control-system faults.
• Maintain proper airflow and air distribution throughout growing rooms and farm areas.
• Assist in maintaining required CO₂ levels, air circulation, and ventilation for crop production.
• Check and maintain temperature and humidity sensors, thermostats, controllers, and other environmental monitoring devices.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new HVAC and climate-control equipment.
• Coordinate with engineers, farm management, contractors, and equipment suppliers during installation and maintenance activities.
• Inspect refrigerant systems for leaks and perform refrigerant charging/recovery as required and permitted.
• Clean and replace filters, coils, fans, belts, motors, and other HVAC components.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment readings, breakdowns, and repairs.
• Respond promptly to HVAC or environmental-control alarms and system failures.
• Support emergency repairs to minimize disruption to farm operations.
• Ensure all HVAC systems operate efficiently and help optimize energy consumption.
• Follow manufacturer recommendations, maintenance schedules, and approved SOPs.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and safe working practices.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Requirements

• Diploma, ITI, or technical certification in HVAC, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in HVAC and refrigeration maintenance.
• Experience working with commercial, industrial, greenhouse, or indoor farming HVAC systems is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, air-conditioning systems, ventilation, and climate-control equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical HVAC faults.
• Knowledge of temperature and humidity control systems.
• Ability to read HVAC drawings, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.
• Basic knowledge of electrical controls, sensors, thermostats, VFDs, and control panels.
• Knowledge of safe refrigerant handling and applicable safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and respond to emergency breakdowns.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Physically fit and comfortable working in controlled indoor environments and plant rooms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in controlled-environment agriculture, vertical farming, greenhouse operations, cold rooms, or food-production facilities.
• Experience with HVAC systems designed for high-humidity environments.
• Knowledge of BMS, PLC, IoT-based climate monitoring, sensors, and automated environmental-control systems.
• Experience with dehumidification systems.
• Experience with chilled-water systems, AHUs, FCUs, and precision environmental-control systems.
• UAE/GCC experience is an advantage.
• Valid UAE driving license is an advantage.
