What they need

The RESS Joint Venture would like to invite applications for a fixed-term role of RESS Clinical Advisor.

The role is available for an Immediate start, with the initial term ending on May 31st, 2027 - a total of 8 months.

The ideal time commitment would be 20-24 hours per week.

ABOUT US

Restorative Elective Surgery Services (RESS) is a joint venture between St. Georges Hospital, Forte Health Hospital, Motus Health Physiotherapy, and the Orthopaedic Surgeon’s Collective. RESS supports an ACC initiative that provides surgical, hospital, rehabilitation, vocational and navigation services to patients with musculoskeletal injuries.

RESS is leading the country in interdisciplinary team rehabilitation, with clinical expertise serving as the foundation of its daily operations. RESS has been delivering an innovative, outcome-based approach to care since 2017, that gives New Zealanders access to the right treatment at the right time.

RESS is preparing to support ACC with a future Secondary Care model that streamlines the patient journey - a key aspect of this service is building a clinically governed patient triage service, removing access barriers and promoting a sustainable ACC scheme for the future of Aotearoa.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a close-knit team of clinicians in the day-to-day decision making for knee, shoulder and lumbar spine clinical patient pathways.

The roles’ primary objective is to support RESS’ growing Clinical Triage functions, reviewing incoming patient referrals to determine injury complexity, to review ACC cover and causation principles, to recommend treatment pathways within or external to RESS service, and to keep the individual patients needs at the heart of every clinical decision.

The roles’ secondary function is to support the RESS physiotherapy network (>600 clinicians) across the South Island by reviewing patient progress during the treatment journey. You will be providing continuous improvement and clinical feedback to clinicians, surgeons and fellow MDT team members including the RESS navigation team with regular liaison with the ACC ICPMSK team.

The role also includes acting as one of the primary contact points for providers for clinical advice, review of complex cases and audit and performance management of outliers.

The ideal time commitment would be 20-24 hours per week at this stage, spread across a minimum of three days, but with flexibility for the right candidate.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required:

·       A current APC.

·       A minimum of 5 years relevant musculoskeletal clinical experience, or 3 years experience with a post graduate qualification.

·       Experience working within or an understanding of various ACC contracts.

·       Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and system management abilities.

·       Candidates must be willing to learn, adaptable to change, and able to think critically.
